Character’s Name: Moro Series: Princess Mononoke Age: ??? Gender: Female Species: Giant wolf "God" Personality: A mysterious, proud and intelligent wolf. She shows unbelievable wisdom, which comes from her age. But underlying her wisdom and experience is a deep, everlasting hatred for humans. As a warrior, her hatred is channeled by only one action - killing. And Moro holds grudges and resentment until she is finally able to kill the source of her rage. This hate and anger is a trait of the gods of her world, but Moro has a unique handle of it - unlike the boar gods, which are prone to going insane with their fury and turning into demons, Moro is able to set aside her hatred in order to carry out the tasks she knows to be the right things. For example, she had been patiently waiting for Eboshi to appear before her so she could use the last of her strength to kill her, but she instead used her final moments to rescue her daughter from a frenzying demon Okkoto. Though she can be hateful, she's also a very gentle and regal god when her hatred is absent. She shows love for her pups, even her adopted human daughter, San. And she shows endless love and respect for the Forest Spirit, and always supports his decisions regardless of what they are and never once questions his intent. Strengths: Physically powerful - very thick and strong muscle mass. She has a massive tolerance for pain, proven in the movie, when she is both shot and set on fire before she stops charging towards Eboshi. As stated in her personality, she is very stubborn and extremely set in her ways, and is not swayed easily by opposing opinions of any nature. Even when backed into a corner she maintains the grace and diligence to fight for her stance. She has a sense of duty and priorities, and is able to sacrifice her own desires for what she knows is the right thing to do. Unlike most gods, Moro has the capability to restrain her hatred and prevent it from taking over her, giving her a colder demeanor. Weaknesses: With a bullet in her chest keeping her sick and weak, she is not always at full strength. She is endlessly aggressive, following a grudge to her last breath, and at almost all times she absolutely cannot forgive. She can be cold and unfeeling when she is not burning with anger and hatred, and her territoriality is brutal. Her beliefs are so solid to her that she is very inflexible in regards to them and would chose death in defense of them rather than surrender. History: An ancient god, her past is not fully described in detail. It's assumed that she once lived in a time where humans and spirits coexisted. But once humans began to dig up the forests, she turned on them, developing a strong, endless hatred. She had two pups, which became part of her pack - there are no other known wolf gods aside from them. A few decades before challenging Eboshi, she encountered humans, who threw their daughter on the ground in order to escape from Moro. Moro decided that instead of eating the human child, she would adopt it, and raised her to be Princess Mononoke. Within the timeline of the movie, Moro and her pups move to attack Lady Eboshi - a woman leading the movement to cut down the forest and dig out the iron in the soil. While the humans were transporting goods to their town through a mountain pass, Moro attacked, getting shot in the chest and being set ablaze before she could reach Eboshi, and she tumbled over the cliff. She awoke at the bottom, retreating with her pups back into the forest. Later, she sends her pups to attack Iron Town and kill Eboshi, and San fails - bringing back Ashitaka, who stopped her. When the Forest Spirit saved his life, she agreed to not kill him on site, permitting her daughter to take up the role of caring for him. When Ashitaka awoke and began to inquire about the state of the forest and asked why the forest and the humans could not live harmoniously, she snarled and told him that the forest was dying from the humans, and that they were going to kill the gods regardless. She bitterly told the story of San's adoption, and threatened to kill him if he did not leave her sight. The following morning, Moro observed the humans from a distance as they began to set a trap for the boars. She sent her children to fight at the side of the boars, while she waited for the Forest Spirit to let her die. In her final moments, though she had been saving her energy to bite off Eboshi's head, she used the last of her strength to rescue San from the boar god Okkoto, who had become a demon. |
